Had a lovely holiday at the Crystal Bay Sensatori hotel in Sharm. Lovely hotel, nice room with good veiw, good restaurants, nice food, nice al’carts. Good entertainment venue & bars. Lovely long sandy beach & nice pools area. Staff friendly & helpful, nice atmosphere, most waiters friendly & attentive. Entertainment ok, poor resident group. Flown in artists good, Nice bar areas, drinks good, (weak in piano bar). Thankyou to the best waiter Mahmoud who served us on the beach with some lovely cocktails & in the venue & piano bar. He made our holiday special. Thankyou to the, most friendly waiters in the Tiran restaurant, who served us at lunch & couple of evenings. All were friendly in all the al’carts. Ok in main restaurant but not as attentive. Worse one in the adults outside restaurant who expected to be tipped all the time. (False atitude, actually made us feel abit uncomfortable sometimes). The cleaner made a good job cleaning the room, fresh towels every day. bought us beach towels every morning. Decorated our bed with towel art, fridge always replenished, fruit plate on occasions. We never put towels on beds & always found ones (beach) but towards the end of our holiday you had to reserve a bed. The sea is warm, there are rocky areas to get across to sandy bits. It’s shallow until the end of floating pier. Lots of coloured fish. Ideal snorkelling. Because the resident group was poor in the venue, a lot of people went in the piano bar for the entertainment, which is not laid out for so many people. In my opinion it needs redesigning with more tables & chairs on the upper level & the large column seating removed. Probably Sofas removed to lower balcony bar as not enough seating there. I think the singers in the resident group could all sing on their own but together they didn’t harmonise. The Scottish chap being the worse. We was also disappointed that the flown in comedian in Theo’s bar was on the same night as the flown in artists. The bar was not big enough to accommodate the amount of people. We stood outside but you couldn’t hear him. Shame he wasn’t in the venue after the other artist or even a different night. The clinic manned by a nurse (doctor if required)was situated near the inside shops. Although we always take medication with us. On this accession we needed more diarrhoea tablets. It would have been useful if they sold over the counter named medication such as diarrhoea/ stomach ache tablets, painkillers, antiseptic creams etc. because the excess on travel insurance to get these items is expensive There are a few shops outside, at the end of the beach to walk round. Went on the evening hotel shuttle bus to the Sharm old market, which we really enjoyed. Lots of shops,stalls, bargains. mosque, camels etc. Weather was good most of the time, but didn’t expect a thunderstorm & rain one afternoon / evening. In Egypt. A gift from the gods. There were thin hazzy clouds after that, until it cleared. Apparently not usual for this time of the year. This was our first time at this hotel but many people return. (saying the same thing about the entertainment). I liked the room & view, we were in but think there are some iffy rooms. Doesn’t matter to some people but l like a view & if we did return would be apprehensive about which room we would get.
